LESBIAN MAYOR TO ADDRESS CONFERENCE

Valerie Terrigno, mayor of the newly incorporated heavily gay city of West Hollywood and the first open lesbian to head an American city administration, will join other national newsmaking speakers at the 4th Annual All-Ohio. Lesbian/Gay/Feminist Conference April 19-21 at Case Western Reserve University.
Other guest speakeers include Larry Bush, leading gay journalist and California state lobbyist; Brian McNaught, nationally syndicated gay columnist who was the Boston mayor's liaison to that city's gay and lesbian community; and Chocolate Waters, lesbian/feminist poet from New York.
Chris Riddiough, director of lesbian rights for NOW and president of the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club, will present a workshop entitled "Lesbians and Straight Women Working Together" and join a panel discussion about the future directions of the lesbian/gay movement.
Kate Clinton, feminist humorist who has drawn excellent reviews across the country, will give a performance Saturday night and present a workshop, "Women and Humor Activism."
Besides keynote addresses, workshops, and a panel discussion, the Conference will offer opportunities for socializing. These include a
Friday night reception, and on Saturday an afternoon cocktail hour and an evening party. Friday night two Cleveland bars will also waive cover charges and offer a free drink to patrons wearing a Conference badge. Presented by the Case Western Reserve University Lesbian/Gay Student Union,

the Conference is cosponsored by the CWRU Women's Center, Undergraduate Student Government, and the University Program Board's Minorities Interest Group. Other cosponsoring organizations are Black and White Men Together/Cleveland; DignityCleveland; the Eleanor Roosevelt Gay Democratic Club; Gay Lesbian Academic Union, Cleveland Chapter; and the Ohio National Organization for Women. Oven Productions is presenting the Kate Clinton performance.
The 12 workshops will be presented in three sessions, Saturday morning and afternoon and Sunday afternoon.

ERGDC ELECTS FOUR NEW OFFICERS

The Eleanor Roosevelt Gay tees of the GEAR Foundation, Democratic Club (ERGDC) elected four new officers and returned two incumbents at its annual election, February 25, at Exedra. Jerry Bores, incumbent president, will continue to lead the organization after being elected to his first full term as president.
Win Weizer defeated Mark Kroboth in a hotly contested race for vice president. The vice presidential contest was the only one in which a candidate ran with opposition. Neither candidate had previously served as an officer of ERGDC. Weizer was formerly chair of Dignity Cleveland. Kroboth is a staff member of the Gay Peoples Chronicle. After the balloting, Kroboth conceded defeat and congratulated Weizer, pledging his support for her.
Jeff Swindler was returned to the office of treasurer. He was first elected treasurer in October, 1984, to fill a vacancy. Swindler is also an officer of the Health
Issues Task Force.
Incumbent vice-president Walt Weller and secretary Phil Arula ran successfully for other offices. Arula was elected public relations coordinator after serving one and a half terms as secretary. Only Bores has served on ERGDC's Executive Committee longer than Arula. Weller was elected fundraising coorpage 3, col. 1
Kochems Resigns
Lee Kochems, publisher of the Gay Peoples Chronicle, has resigned from the newspaper and from the Cleveland Gay Peoples Press Associates, Inc.
In a letter of resignation dated March 13, he thanks "all those people on the board and the staff of The Chronicle who have worked so hard with me in the necessary spirit of cooperation to
establish a gay/lesbian newspaper in and for Cleveland."
Vince Bluett, advertising manager for The Chronicle, has also resigned from the publishing board and the newspaper.
The new publishing board now being constituted is not yet complete. Details will be announcwed in the May issue of The Chronicle.
